Advisor of Geology and Mining, Department of Under Developed Areas (DUDA), W. Chingang Konyak inaugurated a farm machinery bank at Wakching Village, Wednesday.
A press release by Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer (SDAO) Naginimora informed that the farm machinery bank was set up by the department of agriculture under Sub-Mission on Agricultural Mechanization (SMAM) 2022-23, with the objective to encourage farm mechanization, facilitate custom hiring services and also introduce improved technologies to the farmers.
Speaking at the inaugural programme, Chingang urged the farmers to manage and utilize the machineries properly.
He also called on the farmers to incorporate improved agricultural practices and technologies in their farming activities, and encouraged them to start terrace rice cultivation wherever possible.
VVC Wakching, Ngamwang thanked the department for setting up the farm machinery bank at Wakching and assured all co-operation in running it, while SDAO Naginimora, who chaired the programme, highlighted the concept and objectives of the scheme. Power tiller, rice mill, rotary tillers, brush cutters, augers and sprayers were given as part of the farm machinery bank. The programme was attended by council members, GBs, village elders, youth leaders and farmers.
