Farmers of Meluri urged to adopt organic farming

A workshop under the Mission Organic Value Chain Development for Northeast Region (MOVCD-NER) Phase 4 was organized by department of Agriculture at community hall in Meluri, Phek district on June 28.


According to media cell, Green Caravan Nagaland, the program was graced by ADC Meluri, Albert Ezung as special guest. In his address, Albert spoke on the benefits of “organic farming,” and encouraged the farmers of Meluri to indulge more into organic farming practices.


The event commenced with an invocation by Virhovi, a member of the Board of Directors at Meluri Farmer Producer Company (FPC). SDAO Meluri, Mhonchumo Lotha, welcomed the attendees and expressed gratitude for their participation.


The second half of the program featured Ato Nyekha, Project Associate at The Green Caravan, as resource person. He spoke on the “Purpose of Organic Farming, Its Advantages, Business Opportunities, Value Chain Development, and Market Linkage.” The program concluded with a question-and-answer session, allowing participants to address their queries and deepen their understanding of organic farming practices.
