A 20-day training programme on farmers’ skill training (FST) was organised by Research Extension Centre (REC), Samaguri and CSB, Dimapur, from October 10 to 19 at chawki rearing stage and second phase at late age rearing stage from October 20 to 29.
A press release by scientist-D and in-charge, Dr. K Neog, stated that joint director, Sericulture, DoS, Nagaland, Yashimeren, in his speech pointed out that Nagaland has already shown its potential as mulberry silk producing state through implementation of various government funded schemes during last few years.
He further informed that lost was expected to be compensated in the present autumn crop rearing and lots of efforts were being exercised for achieving the target. He attested that sericulture was at present more, particularly from the economic and environmental point of view.
Several experts from both state and CSB took part as resource persons, including joint director, Yashimeren, extension officer Mejomongla, ASO, T Seb, ASO, Imalukumjuk, from Sericulture, DoS, Nagaland, scientist-D, REC, Dimapur, Dr. Kartik Neog and all technical staff of unit of CSB-REC, Dimapur.
Farmers were given theoretical as well as practical knowledge by concurrently rearing mulberry silkworms in the unit starting from rearing chawki worms and ending with late age worms till spinning. 25 farmers participated in the programme.
