Farmers trained on AI tech in pigs

ICAR-KVK Wokha conducted a three-day on-campus capacity building programme on “Artificial Insemination (AI) Technology in Pig” from August 27 to 29 at its Conference Hall, under a project supported by the Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India.
Altogether 25 participants, including farmers, rural youth and field functionaries from seven districts—Longleng, Mokokchung, Wokha, Kiphire, Shamator, Tseminyu and Tuensang—took part in the training. The sessions featured micro-lab exercises, SWOT analysis, group activities, lectures, live demonstrations and laboratory procedures.
Resource persons included Dr. Sandeep Deshmukh, Senior Scientist & Head, ICAR-KVK Wokha; Dr. N Khumdemo Ezuy and Dr. BL Mhalo Tungo, CTOs, ICAR-KVK Wokha; Dr. Yanben M Kikon, ACTO, ICAR-KVK Longleng; Dr. Lily Ngullie, Skill Officer, DC Office Wokha; and Shri Anuranjan Singh. Topics covered ranged from reproductive management in pigs, feed formulation, disease prevention—particularly African Swine Fever—hygienic pork production, pig farm waste utilisation and entrepreneurship development.
Gracing the valedictory function as special guest, SDO (Civil) Wokha, Echungbemo Erui, emphasized the need to adopt scientific piggery practices in Nagaland and commended KVK for promoting advanced reproductive technologies. He urged participants to become “ambassadors of change” in their respective districts.
Certificates were distributed to participants at the closing ceremony, followed by a vote of thanks and group photograph.
