Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Kohima organised a two-day training programme on “Scientific Cultivation Practices of Groundnut” from July 25 to 26 at its campus and Chiechema village.
Sponsored by ICAR–Indian Institute of Groundnut Research, Junagadh, Gujarat, the programme aimed to promote sustainable farming and raise awareness on scientific groundnut cultivation in the region.
Around 80 farmers participated in the training, which included technical sessions on scientific methods, crop protection, improved varieties, post-harvest techniques and value addition opportunities.
Resource persons included Dr. Martina Shitiri, ACTO (Genetics & Plant Breeding), Dr. Sashirenla Aier and Dr. Sesenlo Kath (Technical Officer), who shared expertise on better agronomic practices and modern cultivation strategies.
Farmers were also provided agri-inputs and groundnut seeds during the event. The programme concluded with a field visit and live demonstration on various groundnut products by KVK staff to give practical insights on improved farming methods.
