Farmers trained on IPM

Season long Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programme on paddy was conducted at Kiruphema by district agriculture office Kohima (DAOK) on August 27 and attended by 23 FFS farmers. 
During the training session, topics on the importance of IPM, climate change and its effect on agriculture, pest and defenders identification, biomagnifications, paddy morphology and physiology, life cycle and management of stem borer and leaf folder, rodent management and care and precaution in the use of chemicals were discussed. 
The training also emphasized the importance of IPM in the significance of cultural, mechanical and biological methods of pest management. 
Earlier, the same program was conducted at Kidima and Seiyhama on August 13 and 19 respectively. The program under RKVY covers all the three blocks of Kohima sadar. 
The resource persons were AO Seyievonuo, AI Nekholii, AFA Neichiikho and AFA Vizolie who also demonstrated on the use of Trichocards, bio fertilizers, vitaveg,  rodenticide and  sprayers. The program ended with distribution of IPM kits, vitaveg and rodenticide.
