Farmers trained on QPM utilisation

A farmers’ training cum awareness programme on “Quality Protein Maize (QPM) utilisation as animal feed” was conducted Saturday at the Village Council Hall, Old Jalukie, Peren District by the College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry (CVS&AH) Central Agricultural University (I), Jalukie.


A press release by CVS&AH Jalukie stated that the training, funded by Indian Council of Agriculture Research-North Eastern Hill (ICAR-NEH) – Vivekananda Parvatiya Krishi Anusandhan Sansthan (VPKAS), Almora, Uttarakhand, was conducted under the advice and guidance of CVS&AH Jalukie, dean, Dr. I. Shakuntala.


During the technical session, assistant professor and in-charge of veterinary physiology and biochemistry department, Dr. Uttarani Maibam, farm manager, Helungsuipoing Mbungtsa, and assistant professor, veterinary medicine department, Dr. Neithono Kuotsu, delivered lectures on the topics, “QPM utilisation as animal feed”, “cultivation practices of QPM”, and “important diseases of poultry and its management”, respectively.


A farmer-scientist interaction session was also held as a part of the programme. The programme was coordinated by Dr Uttarani Maibam and assistant professor and in-charge of veterinary anatomy department, Dr. Malsawmkima. A total of 162 participants attended the programme.
