Farmers trained on their rights

A one-day training cum awareness and sentitisation programme on Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmer Right Act was held on February 11 at KVIC conference hall with ADC Tseminyu, Vikhweno M Meratsu, as the chief guest. The programme was sponsored by Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers Right Authority, Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India, and organised by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Tesophenyu under Tseminyu sub-division, Kohima,
Speaking on the occasion, she expressed her gratitude to the department for organizing the programme for the benefit of the farmers. She also encouraged all the participants to take the opportunity and learn something and implement and also teach other farmers for the benefit of all.
She further urged the farmers to be professional in whatever they do with dedication and devotion, adding that agri and allied sector play an important role as source of income. Vikhweno further said we should all be thankful to God for the good climate that He has given to us. Resource person for technical session were Chubatemjen Ozukum, Technical Assistant, PhEd Scholar GPB Department NU SASRD, Medziphema; and Khepali (SMS) KVK, Tesophenyu.
The programme was chaired by Dr. Akashe Zhimomi, Programme Coordinator, KVIC, Tesophenyu. He also delivered the welcome speech and vote of thanks was proposed by K Michael Pienyu, SMS KVK, (Plant Protection) Tesophenyu while the invocation was pronounced by pastor Khito Chung.  Altogether 56 farmers and staff from KVK Tesophenyu participated in the programme.
