‘Fashion Designers Toolkit’ workshop kicks off in Kohima

A two-day workshop on “The Fashion Designers’ Toolkit: IP, Branding & Business Essentials” got underway today at the Centre of Excellence for Music and Arts (CEMA) in Kohima.
Organised by the Task Force for Music and Arts (TaFMA), Government of Nagaland, in collaboration with the Fashion & Law Journal (FLJ), the workshop aims to equip designers with crucial knowledge on intellectual property rights, branding strategies, and business fundamentals. The Nagaland Designers’ Association (NDA) is supporting the event as a partner, with TS Academy of Design as the institutional collaborator.
Around 75 participants, including designers, educators, legal experts, and budding entrepreneurs, are attending the programme, which seeks to strengthen the creative ecosystem in the state.
The inaugural session was graced by Principal of Government Polytechnic Kohima, Er. Keyiekhrü Rhütso who urged participants to make full use of the opportunity and apply the insights gained in their professional pursuits.
Welcoming the gathering, Project Director of TaFMA,Dr. Hovithal Sothu reiterated the government’s commitment to empowering creative and cultural professionals in Nagaland.
On the first day, Founder & CEO of the Fashion & Law Journal, Anuj Kumar led sessions on intellectual property rights, brand protection, contracts, and other legal aspects vital to the fashion industry. President of the Nagaland Designers’ Association, Rosou Rhi also addressed the participants, highlighting the importance of industry knowledge and community building among designers.
The workshop will continue on July 10 with advanced discussions, practical sessions, and an open Q&A. Participants will receive certificates and a resource handbook during the closing ceremony.
The initiative aims to nurture a well-informed and legally aware design community, paving the way for a stronger creative industry in Nagaland.
