Mon police personnel namely, Vanthungo tried to murder his two children Chumben, 6 years and Marbeni, 3 years during the wee hours of August 7. According to SP Mon in a press release, the father initially tried to strangulate his children but he was not successful. Later, the boy was grievously injured on the neck with a machete (dao) but the girl was unharmed. It stated that due to timely intervention of the neighbors he was however stopped and taken into police custody. Mon police stated that the boy was presently receiving medical care and his condition was stable. A regular case has been registered at Mon PS and investigation has been initiated to ascertain the circumstances leading to the incident.
