Father’s Day: Churches hold special prayers

Churches across the state celebrated Father’s Day by holding special prayers and presented gifts to fathers.
The day is observed on the third Sunday of June.
At St Francis De Sales Church, Kohima, while speaking on the occasion, parish priest, Rev Fr Mhabemo Matthew said fathers were disciples of Jesus by virtue of Baptism.
He said this discipleship was the continuation with 2000 years ago when Jesus sent his disciples to the world to preach the gospel.
He pointed out that in order to be preachers everyone needed to be filled with the Holy Spirit.
During the holy eucharist, a special prayer was offered for the fathers who were in attendance.
Earlier, the service was chaired by Visazhünuo Carmila while catechist, Petekhriezo Francis, offered the morning prayer.
CBCMKH: Chakhesang Baptist Church Ministers’ Hill Kohima (CBCMHK) celebrated the under the theme “As for me and my household”.
A press release by Media and Publicity Committee of CBCMHK said that retired principal of Patkai Christian College, Husazu Epao while speaking on the theme expounded on what the Bible says about fatherhood, who God chose to be a father and why.
As fathers, he said there were lot of responsibilities in the world and it needed deeper understanding of the Bible, as the society has become selfish because they don’t read the Bible.
He reminded the gathered fathers that God will take into account their sons and daughters one day and therefore urged them to do their best in the roles entrusted to them.
On the occasion, a total of 10 groups from different colonies participated in the folk song competitions. The first place was bagged by Old Ministers’ Hill and Porterlane Colonies while Lerie, NST, and New Reserve colonies the second place and New Ministers’ Hill third place.
KLBC D Block: Kohima Liangmai Baptist Church (KLBC) D.Block celebrated the day under the banner of “You did not choose me, but I choose you”. Speaking at the programme, KLBC pastor Rev. N.Silubo Zeliang encouraged the fathers about the power of father’s love and to be the best version themselves in their roles as fathers and apprised them to apply the characteristics of God’s love in their fathering practices.
YBC holds revival meeting: To commemorate 125 years of its existence, Yikhum Baptist Church (YBC) under Wokha district organised a prelude three-day revival meeting from June 16-18 under the theme ‘Repent and live’ (Ezekiel 18: 30-32).
A press release from the organisers informed that the main speakers for the programme were senior pastor, Koinonia Baptist Church (KBC), Rev Zotuo Kiewhuo and asst. pastor, Koinonia Prayer Centre (KPC), H Rokopra Mekro.
The praise and worship team was led by YBC Church workers.
On Sunday, which coincided with Father’s Day, Rev. Zotuo Kiewhuo, who was the speaker told the congregation that if their eyes were fixed on Jesus, then there will be oneness.
He exhorted the church leaders and head of family to not be a religious leader but to play the role of a spiritual leader and father to the family members. He offered impartation prayers for the fathers.
At the programme, special praises were presented by Koinonia Ministry team, evangelist Asi Meyase and YBC Bible students.
Later, the evening service was led by Prescilla Kithan, women leader, special praise by Koinonia Team and evangelist Neilhou and healing and deliverance was ministered by Rev. Zotuo Kiewhuo.
