FBOs directed to register under FSS Act

Chief Medical Officer’s (CMO) Office has directed all Food Business Operators (FBOs) to register or obtain a licence under the Food Safety & Standards Act, 2006, as per Section 31 and Regulations 2.1.1 and 2.1.2 of the Food Safety and Standards (Licensing & Registration of Food Business).
Designated Officer (Food Safety) Kohima, Kezhangulie Yimchunger, informed that pharmacies selling complementary foods and food supplements are also required to register or obtain a licence. Operating without it is a punishable offence under the Act.
FBOs without the required certificate or licence must apply online at www.foscos.fssai.gov.in or visit the CMO Office, Food Safety Section, Paramedical Colony, Kohima, for guidance.
The public has been advised to report any food safety-related complaints.
