Food & Civil Supplies (F&CS) department has informed that there is sufficient domestic LPG stock available in the state and urged consumers not to panic or resort to unnecessary hoarding. According to DIPR, the assurance was given after a review meeting held on March 12 at Kohima to assess the availability of LPG and other petroleum products in the state.
The meeting was attended by deputy commissioners of Kohima, Dimapur and Chümoukedima, officials of the F&CS department and representatives from various Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs).
After reviewing the stock position, the department said there was no shortage of domestic LPG in the market and appealed to consumers not to create artificial scarcity by hoarding. The department also cautioned distributors, retailers and individuals that black marketing, overpricing or unauthorised sale of domestic LPG was illegal and punishable under relevant provisions of law. It warned that strict action would be taken against any person or entity found involved in such activities.
Further, the department sought cooperation from the public to maintain orderly distribution and adhere to the prescribed norms. It also informed that booking of domestic LPG was carried out through a digital booking system and delivery was made through the Delivery Authentication Code (DAC).
The department added that LPG booking was allowed only after a gap of 25 days in order to prevent hoarding and other malpractices and to ensure fair distribution to all consumers.
