Directorate of Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES) carried out an extensive table top exercise and mock drill at Putuonuo Hospital, Kohima, as part of the ongoing efforts to enhance emergency preparedness and response capabilities on June 28.
130 hospital staff and 12 personnel from the F & ES participated in the exercise. In a press statement, Putuonuo Hospital, Kohima, Director of Operations, Dr Keduovinuo Keditsu, informed that the firefighters demonstrated expertise in fire suppression, search and rescue operations, and emergency medical services.
The purpose of the mock drill was to assess and improve the hospital’s emergency response plan, evaluate the effectiveness of evacuation procedures, and test the coordination between hospital staff and emergency services. The drill also tested the hospital’s fire alarms, sprinkler systems, and emergency communication protocols.
Fire Prevention & Audit Officer, Kenneth Khing commended Putuonuo Hospital for being the first hospital in the state to conduct such a drill according to their standard of procedure, and for having all the necessary fire equipment on-site. He also complimented on the use of “Visitor Pass” and its importance during a fire crisis. Chief Safety and Quality Officer (PH), Kuokuovor Mepfhuo, expressed gratitude to Neilasa Sopfü IG (F&ES), Kenneth Khing, FP&AO, Sevi Kera SI, Dziesengutuo Keyho ASI and all fire personnel, for their professionalism and dedication to safety.
