Federal Government of Nagaland clarifies leadership

Dimapur:

Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) has issued a clarification regarding reports circulated on February 19 alleging the replacement of Kedahge Gen. (Retd.) T. M. Rhakho by Tokuho Assumi. In a press release, Tsorusa Nusory speaker tatar hoho, termed the claim as unfounded with no official legitimacy.
According to the statement, Assumi was inducted as a member of the Tatar Hoho on January 13, 2026, representing the Sumi region. However, any assertion beyond his assigned responsibility was not recognized by the Government. It stated that “Yehzabo of Nagaland” stipulates that only the Speaker of the Tatar Hoho was authorized to summon the National Tatar Hoho, and any meeting convened outside this provision was invalid. Reaffirming its adherence to constitutional governance, the FGN emphasized that it continues to function under the leadership of Kedahge Gen. (Retd.) T. M. Rhakho. In light of recent developments, the membership of Assumi in the Tatar Hoho has been revoked with immediate effect. The Government urged all concerned to uphold constitutional procedures and maintain the dignity and unity of the national institution, reiterating its commitment to Naga sovereignty and constitutional principles.
