Fellowship of Naga Baptist Associations for ceasefire, dialogue in Manipur

Fellowship of Naga Baptist Associations (FNBA) has appealed for “immediate cessation of violence and initiation of dialogue” amid ongoing tensions affecting communities in Manipur.
In a press release, FNBA president Rev. Dr. Visor H. Zeliang; general secretary Rev. Dr. H. Gideon and recording secretary Rev. Dr. P. James made a “heartfelt and urgent appeal” to Kuki and Naga communities to exercise restraint and commit to peace, stating that the situation had brought deep pain, loss and uncertainty to many families and villages.
It cautioned that continued violence would only intensify suffering, erode trust and hinder the possibility of a peaceful and secure future, and stressed that no lasting solution could be achieved through confrontation or force.
The association urged community leaders, civil organisations, church bodies and individuals to take immediate steps to cease all forms of violence and commit to de-escalation and restoration of calm.
FNBA also called for initiation of sincere and constructive dialogue, stating that dialogue provided a peaceful platform to address grievances, seek understanding and work towards just and mutually acceptable solutions.
Emphasising Christian values, the association reminded communities of the shared calling to be peacemakers, uphold the sanctity of life and pursue reconciliation.
Further, the associations urged people not to allow anger and mistrust to define actions, but to choose the path of “grace, truth and unity”.
Stating that the future depended on present choices, FNBA described the situation as a moment of collective responsibility and called on all sections to choose peace.
