Mystery surrounds the case of a young female student who had hailed an auto and later found unconscious at 3rd Mile area Wednesday after returning from Kohima where she had gone to appear an exam. It was reported that the victim had been in contact with her mother after arriving Dimapur from Kohima during the auto ride. However, when contact was lost, the mother continued to call up and an unknown person informed that the female was found unconscious. There was no information about the auto that she had taken at 3rd Mile Junction after arriving from Kohima.
When contacted, the sister of the victim told this Reporter the family rushed to the spot and found that the victim was bleeding with a fracture on the skull and rushed her to a hospital where emergency surgery was done to stop bleeding.
According to information, there was no medical evidence of any sexual molestation barring the injury on the skull. Meanwhile, commissioner of Dimapur Police K Sophie told Nagaland Post over telephone that police has taken cognizance of the matter after it went viral on social media and directed the Women Cell to investigate the matter and review CCTV footage.
Till the time of filing this report, family members said the victim was in a stable condition and was under observation in the intensive care unit (ICU) of the Hospital. It was also learnt that so far, the auto rickshaw which in which the female victim had hired to reach her home, has not been identified but police sources expressed confidence that the case will be solved soon.
