FGN mourns demise of ‘maj. gen.’ Pezangulie

DIMAPUR

Naga Army has expressed shock and sorrow at the sudden demise of ‘maj. gen.’ Pezangulie (Army No. 03924), former Commander-in-Chief, Naga Army, son of Ruokuolhou of Chedema village, who passed away on May 4 at a hospital in Dimapur.
In a condolence note, ‘maj. gen’. Zekope Kreo, Commander-in-Chief, Naga Army, FGN said that late ‘maj. gen.’ Pezangulie joined the National Defence Service on April 5, 1963, and served with dedication and loyalty in various commands until his last breath. Rising from a soldier to ‘major general’, he endured many hardships in his remarkable journey of national service. He was among those who successfully undertook the Alee Command (Foreign Command) to Pakistan on foot to procure arms and ammunition, and was a recipient of the Military Cross.
His demise, the Naga Army stated, was a great loss to the Naga Nation, leaving behind a vacuum difficult to fill. His selfless service and contributions will remain cherished in Naga history.
