The Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) has extended an invitation to all Naga people to attend the Naga National Martyrs’ Day Service, scheduled to be held on October 18, 10 a.m. at the Chedema Peace Camp, Chedema.
The observance marks the death anniversary of Zasibito Nagi of Jotsoma, who was assassinated on this day in 1952. The day is commemorated to honour Zasibito and all other martyrs who laid down their lives in defense of Naga land, freedom, history and dignity.
According to the official statement, the Naga National Martyrs’ Day is not only a tribute to the fallen but also a moment of reflection, remembrance and renewed commitment to unity and nation-building. It called upon the people to transcend differences and uphold the values of humility, truth and collective understanding.
As part of the observance, Nagas across villages and regions are requested to visit local monoliths and memorial stones at 7:00 a.m. to lay wreaths or flowers and offer prayers in remembrance of the martyrs. All Nagas, regardless of location, are also encouraged to observe a two-minute silence at 11 a.m. in prayer and contemplation.
The Federal Government of Nagaland emphasized that public participation will dignify the solemnity of the occasion and reinforce the shared legacy of sacrifice and resilience.
