A one-day campaign for the saturation of Financial Inclusion (FI) schemes and re-verification of Know Your Customer (KYC) details was conducted at Viswema Village on August 19.
According to DIPR report, the initiative, launched by the Department of Financial Services (DFS), Ministry of Finance, and supported under the Financial Inclusion Fund (FIF), is being implemented across villages from July 1 to September 30, 2025.
The programme was organised by State Bank of India (SBI), Kohima Branch, with the objective of promoting awareness on formal banking systems and key social security schemes including Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Atal Pension Yojana (APY), and Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY).
SDO (Civil), Jakhama, Vineikho Tetso, who chaired the event, delivered the welcome address and emphasised the importance of financial literacy in rural communities to enable informed financial decisions and improve access to banking services.
Anthony K. Nguori, Assistant Branch Manager, SBI Kohima, highlighted the campaign’s objectives, focusing on account opening procedures, KYC compliance, and the importance of account nomination.
Temsumeren, Lead District Manager (LDM), LBO Kohima, conducted an informative session on the eligibility, benefits, and enrollment procedures of the various government-sponsored social security schemes.
H. Lalhlimpuia, Chief Manager, SLBC, and K. Samuel Liangousiam, Assistant General Manager, RBI, underscored the collaborative efforts of financial institutions in promoting financial inclusion at the grassroots level.
The camp witnessed active participation from local residents, who interacted with resource persons and clarified doubts related to banking, insurance, and social welfare services.
