Fight against backwardness: MC Konyak

Minister for forest, environment, ecology and wildlife, excise, MC Konyak Saturday terming state government’s approval of 25 percent job reservation for eastern Nagas as "pain killer to sick person" called upon the people of eastern Nagaland to be pro-active while fight against the backwardness.
Addressing the 20th general conference of Eastern Nagaland Students’ Union Dimapur (ENSUD) as chief guest here at town hall, MC Konyak maintained that with eastern Naga people comprising 33 percent the total Naga population can play a big role in bringing unity, reconciliation and understanding among the Nagas, adding it would be a challenge to other tribes as well.
Asserting that Naga society has been divided into "faction and fraction" Konyak said if six tribes (eastern Nagas) unite, it would be symbolic to the rest of Naga society. "There is no way but to unite", he added. The minister also suggested to do away with manmade differences.
Konyak while urging the students of six eastern Naga communities that they would lead the society of tomorrow, said they were not inferior to anybody. "Never think that we backward, in no way we are inferior to others" Konyak said. He further maintained that it was high time to be pro-active group and fight against the backwardness.
Earlier, Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSU) president, YP Chillio Khiamniungan while delivering short speech also urged the students to be sincere while performing their task. Commenting on the recent approval of 25 percent job reservation for six tribes, Chillio reiterated upon the student community that even though their demand has been fulfilled if they don’t struggle they would be the "loser". Besides, ENPO president and ENPUD president also delivered short speeches. The minister donated rupees fifty thousand towards the union.
