A major fire broke out at a godown located at Naga Cemetery area Dimapur wee hours of Saturday morning destroying goods worth several crores of rupees. According to fire officials, the owner of the godwon informed them that bales of second-hand clothes worth around Rs. 2 crores were completely destroyed in the fire.
The fire officials said that soon after receiving information about the incident at around 2 a.m., seven fire tenders were pressed into action– four from the Central station and three from West station.
The officials said that it took nearly seven to eight hours to bring the fire under control. An excavator was also pressed into action to break down the wall of the godown to enable fire fighters access inside.
Though the officials suspected the cause to be short circuit, the godown owner, however, suspected to be the handiwork of some miscreants.
Investigation was on to ascertain the cause of fire. No casualty has been reported till the time of filing the report.
