Fire destroys 16 homes, properties worth Rs. 10 L

At least 16 thatched houses were reduced to ashes while two trucks were partially burnt after a major broke out at Zakiesetuo colony, Golaghat Road here Tuesday afternoon.
Though no casualty was reported, fire brigade sources said properties worth around Rs. 10 lakh destroyed in the fire. 
Altogether 15 families, all labourers, were affected, fire brigade source said. 
The fire, which broke out at around 3:15 p.m., was put out after one and half hours of struggle by fire brigade.
Six fire engines from Dimapur and one from Bokajan were deployed to extinguish fire, which also engulfed a garage.
However, timely intervention by fire brigade prevented the fire from spreading to adjoining areas. 
Fire brigade said it could save properties worth around Rs. 50 lakh from further damage. 
Fire brigade source suspected that fire could have emanated from a kitchen while cooking as there was no power supply during the time of the incident.
