Properties worth over Rs. 3 lakh were destroyed in a fire that broke out in a kitchen at Duncan Basti, here, on Tuesday.
Speaking to Nagaland Post, eyewitnesses informed that fire engines arrived quickly and prevented the fire from spreading to other rooms. The kitchen was at the ground floor of a three-storeyed building.
Eyewitnesses claimed that lives would been lost and goods worth “crores” would have been destroyed had the fire personnel not reached on time.
Later, an official from the fire & emergency services (F&ES) told this reporter that four fire tenders were pressed in action—two each from Central and West fire stations. The official informed that goods worth around Rs.3-4 lakh were destroyed in the fire, adding that a short circuit was suspected to be the cause of the fire. The official further informed that no casualties were reported.
