Fire guts 9 shops at Chümoukedima market

DIMAPUR, JUN 10 (NPN): A massive fire in the early hours of Wednesday reduced nine business establishments to ashes at Yeputhomi Wednesday Market, Ikishe Model Village, Chümoukedima, destroying properties estimated at around Rs. 60 lakh.
According to Fire & Emergency Services, the blaze broke out around 1 a.m. and a distress call was received at 1:19 a.m.
Two fire tenders were immediately pressed into service and managed to contain the inferno, preventing it from spreading to adjoining structures.
Officials said the exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. No casualties were reported in the incident.
