Fire renders over 50 families homeless

A devastating fire that broke out in Borlengri block No- 1, Karbi Anglong, Assam on Sunday, rendered over 50 families homeless.
Speaking with Nagaland Post, fire department officials disclosed that the fire broke out around 1 pm noon, destroying over 50 houses with CGI roof and bamboo thatched.
Five LPG cylinders burst, while three motorcycles and one auto-rickshaw were reduced to ashes. Five fire tenders, three from Central and two from West fire station in Dimapur were pressed into service but it took more than two hours to bring the raging fire under control. The fierce winds only worsened the situation. The cause of fire was as well as estimates of properties damaged were yet to be assessed. There was however no injury or loss of life.
