Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, Aotula T. Imchen, issued an advisory urging public to celebrate the upcoming festive season in an eco-friendly and responsible manner, while strictly adhering to guidelines on the use of firecrackers within the district. The advisory permits sale and use of only reduced emission or green crackers approved by Petroleum and Explosive Safety Organization to be sold by licensed traders. It also enforces a complete ban on bursting any crackers in silence zones, defined as areas within 100 meters of hospitals, educational institutions, courts, and religious places. Firecrackers exceeding permissible noise limits are also prohibited. CP cautioned violators of penal action under the law.
