Fires contained in several places across the state

Fire & Emergency Services mobilised quick response teams to control fires that broke out in Dimapur, Chümoukedima, Kohima, Peren and Jalukie on March 25. Due to timely response, the fires were prevented from spreading to surrounding areas. 

Vehicle fire at Dimapur: Fire & Emergency Services team from fire station Dimapur (West) along with fire trucks and equipments proceeded to control the fire at state stadium, Dimapur. 

According to RO (E) (F&ES), Kenny Khing, one vehicle was burnt in the inferno and property worth Rs. 6 lakhs (approx) was lost.

It was informed that property worth Rs.1 Lakh (approx) was salvaged. Cause of fire was suspected to be from vehicle wire short circuit.

The fire response team was led by duty commander SI, M. Martin Miasalhou.

Jungle fire at Chümoukedima: Fire & emergency services team from fire station Chümoukedima proceeded to control the fire at National Institute of Technology, Near Fire Station Chümoukedima, Dimapur. 

It took fire team an hour to combat the fire.

Cause of fire could not be ascertained. 

The response team was led by duty commander SI, Meyiehusul Neikha.

Jungle fire at Kohima: On receiving jungle fire call at 4:4 p.m., at Thizama Road, Near Assembly Secretariat Main Gate, fire & emergency services team from fire station Kohima (North) proceeded to control the fire.

Property worth Rs.10 Lakhs (approx) was salvaged.

It took the fire team 20 minutes to combat the fire. However, cause of fire could not be ascertained. 

The response team was led by duty commander, SI Inaka.

Four jungle fires at Peren: Four jungle fire calls were received at separate times in Peren

According to RO (E) (F&ES), Kenny Khing, the first fire call was received at 1:30 p.m., surrounding district court, New Peren.

Three more jungle fires were attended in the same evening with one near DC’s residence at around 4:50 p.m, another near SP’s residence at 6 p.m. and the other fire near New Peren village council hall at 7 p.m.

Fire & emergency services team from fire station Peren proceeded to control the fires. Cause of fire could not be ascertained.

Jungle fire at Jalukie: Fire & emergency services team from fire station Jalukie proceeded to control the fire at Pellhang, Peren. 

Plantations crops were destroyed in the inferno and property worth Rs. 4.5 lakhs (approx) was lost.

Property worth Rs.7 Lakhs (approx) was salvaged. 

It took the fire team 43 minutes to combat the fire. Cause of fire could not be ascertained. 

The response team was led by duty commander, ASI Neikielie Keyienchu.
