Firing in Oting village

Around three rounds of blank firing by underground cadres, Saturday evening in Oting village under Tizit PS, reportedly created panic among the villagers of the area. According to some villagers, around six armed men, of an underground faction, came to the village and demanded the villagers to show them the rival cadres, believed to be in the village. Without any reason or warning, the armed men fired around 2-3 shots in the air in Langnga Mourung area, the villagers said.
They said that most of the villagers, who were in the Church at the time of the incident, were alarmed by the blank firing. Sensing trouble, the village authorities rang the Church bell as a warming call-sign, to which all the male members of the village responded and gathered, they said.
Some of them armed, the villagers chased the cadres from the village and in the process it was also learnt that the villagers fired few warning shots in the air.
