Firm assures to complete NH-2 road work by 2023

The road construction firm– Fortune Group, has assured the Gauhati High Court Kohima Bench to complete the NH-2 (Kohima to Mao gate) by March 2023.
According to the court order, MD of Fortune Group, Tapas Kumar Pathy, who appeared in person as directed by the court, also tendered unqualified apology for not having been able to keep his commitments and promises made before the court. He also submitted timelines to complete the ongoing works.
In this regard, a two-bench judge of Justice Songkhupchung Serto Justice Devashis Baruah directed contractor of to increase the workforce, including the number of machineries, and also to keep enough stock of required materials so that the work progressed well and without any interruption.
The court also ordered the contractor to work on war footing and keep the timelines as promised, besides directing National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL), the authority engineer to monitor properly and see to it that the contractor carried on with the work as promised.
Regarding the 2 km stretch, which was the responsibility of State NPWD, the judges said that the additional advocate general would come with instructions as to when the work would be completed.
Meanwhile, additional AG submitted that NPWD (National Highway) chief engineer had also submitted the expenses incurred by organisations that had undertaken repairing work of the road and submitted the same to the registry of the court.
The court, therefore, directed registrar of the court to do the needful in regard to the Rs 10 lakh as directed in its November 17, 2022 order and submit his report along with necessary documents on the next date, while listing the matter again on December 13, 2022 and ordering everyone, including the contractors, to appear once again with reports in the form of affidavit.
