First district-level inter-school sepaktakraw tourney held in Noklak

DIMAPUR, SEP 7 (NPN): The First District-Level Inter-School Sepaktakraw Tournament 2026 was organized on Monday at the Public Ground, Noklak, by the All Nagaland Private Schools Association (ANPSA) Noklak Unit in collaboration with the Department of Youth Resources and Sports. The tournament was held under the theme “Unity Through Sport: Reviving the Traditional Kick.”
According to a DIPR report, Holy Angels School emerged as the champion, earning the right to represent Noklak District at the upcoming State-Level Sepaktakraw Tournament.
Other participating teams included St. Paul School and Christian Higher Secondary School.
Speaking as the chief guest, president of the Khiamniungan Students’ Union, Noklak headquarters, Shangchiu, highlighted the power of sports to inspire, unite people and create hope. He emphasized the values of fair play and good sportsmanship, noting that sports provide opportunities beyond discrimination. He encouraged students to overcome personal challenges before seeking to change others, and later officially declared the tournament open.
The programme featured a welcome note by president of ANPSA Noklak Unit, P. Chongtin, a special presentation by Jesham K. of Christian Higher Secondary School and the oath-taking ceremony administered by assistant teacher of St. Paul School, Suko Khiam.
Earlier, the event was chaired by Asoni of St. Paul School, with an invocation by pastor of Ao Baptist Church, Noklak, Tiajungba Ao. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by vice president of ANPSA Noklak Unit, Fr. John.
