Imliyala Longchar became the first recipient among Longkhum students to receive the first Dr. I Longrizung Trust Award, selected to pursue MBBS studies.
Imliyala Longchar received the award, Tuesday, at the formal ceremony held at Longkumer Kilem with senior advisor, Mokokchung Chamber of Commerce & Industries and president, Longpok Semchir Telongjem, M Bendangnukshi Longkumer as the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, M Bendangnukshi Longkumer lauded the family members for initiating such a noble Trust, in the name of a giant personality who had played a major role in the upliftment of Mokokchung town and state of Nagaland. He described late I Longrizung as a humane physician and healer, who had been ever ready to attend 24×7 for free. He said that it was his humanitarian nature coupled with dedication and honesty which had earned him sincere respect of people from various walks of life. Longkumer said that late Dr. I Longri was a farsighted visionary and a selfless achiever.
Moreover, the chief guest M Bendangnukshi described late Dr. I Longrizung and his wife to have maintained a well principled “family”, by moulding 3 doctorates (Doctors) and 3 deacons, presently serving in 3 major churches from amongst the 9 children.
M Bendangnukshi Longkumer, told Imliyala that as the first recipient, she has opened new chapter of the Trust, which was awaited since its establishment in 2006 and hoped that she achieved more than late Dr. Longrizung.
Earlier, brief speeches were delivered by the recipient, Imliyala Longchar, Tsupongsangba and Longkhum village council chairman, Sendonglemba. The introduction to the Trust was higlighted by director L Mefutiba Ao and vote of thanks was proposed by rtd. principal director, Health Family Welfare, Dr. Watikala. Invocation was said by MTBA pastor, Rev. Ponen Longchar while the benediction was said by LBC pastor, Rev. T Aka Jamir. The ceremony was hosted by Limasenla Jamir.
