The inaugural Cosmos Festival at Peletkie Village under Peren district concluded successfully after a week-long celebration that began on October 10. Organised by the Peletkie Youth Organisation, the festival drew an estimated 4,000 visitors, showcasing the village’s vibrant cosmos flower gardens in full bloom.
Located just 5 to 6 kilometres from Peren Town, Peletkie Village emerged as a regional attraction, with social media platforms abuzz with images and reels of the blooming cosmos fields. Visitors from neighbouring districts including Kohima, Chümoukedima, Dimapur, and Karbi Anglong in Assam flocked to witness the spectacle.
Adding to the excitement on the final day was the presence of the popular “Dreamz Unlimited” team, whose visit to the Cosmos Garden energised both visitors and organisers.
The concluding day featured various competitions such as airgun shooting, catapult shooting, and penalty shootouts. A trekking event to the village’s renowned waterfall was held on October 14, open to individuals and groups.
Additionally, a phone photography contest remains open, with submissions of cosmos-themed photos taken within the village due by October 25. Winners will be announced on November 1.
The festival, held in collaboration with the Photography Club Peren, offered free photography services to visitors.
The scenic beauty of the cosmos fields, cultivated over eight years through dedicated planting and regular colony-wise cleanliness drives, captivated families, friends, and school groups. The peak blooming season typically occurs in the second week of October.
Despite the festival’s conclusion, organisers have extended an open invitation to those who missed the event, noting that the cosmos flowers will remain in full bloom until the last week of October. Peletkie Village remains easily accessible, with a travel time of 10 to 15 minutes from Peren Town and approximately 40 minutes from Jalukie.
