First FLN model classroom in Wokha

State’s first Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) Model Classroom was inaugurated by DC Wokha Ajit Kumar Ranjan at Government Middle School (GMS) Wokha Town D at Forest Colony, Wokha town on Monday.


Speaking on the occasion as special guest, Ranjan said that whatever policy decisions taken by the authority to bring changes to the system ultimately depended on the performance of teachers and their motivation and dedication to their jobs. Even though there might be constraints including lack of infrastructure, DC Wokha said no problem was insurmountable and that it was the responsibility of all stakeholders to ensure that optimum use be made of existing facilities for betterment of the children.


He also also opened the school’s Teaching-Learning Materials (TLMs) exhibition themed “Magical Basket”, the first cycle of the Nagaland Literacy and Numeracy Fest 2023 where interesting items and models on diverse topics including language, maths, science, environmental sciences, general knowledge and lifeskills for the lower classes had been prepared by the teachers.


In her short speech, senior SDEO Wokha DEO incharge Wokha N. Renchano Kithan urged the School Management Council (SMC) members, parents and teachers to work in good coordination and cooperate with each other so that the school reaches to greater glory in the days to come.
Samagra Shiksha Wokha assistant district coordinator K. Chandemo Patton, in his short speech, revealed that the FLN Model Classroom was the brainchild of DC Wokha, who was also the chairman of the District Steering Committee, Nipun Bharat and DMA, Samagra Shiksha Wokha and had been the constant guiding light behind all activities undertaken by the department. He also expressed appreciation to Education Block Resource Centre (EBRC) TOT A Chonbemo Ezung for helping towards making the initiative turn into reality.


During the programme, three schools including GMS Wokha Town D, Government Primary School (GPS) Etsuchukha and GPS Airfield, were also awarded with the district’s best FLN activities.
Samagra Shiksha Wokha project assistant Z. Rhonbeni Kikon delivered the welcome address as the chairperson, students of GMS Wokha Town D presented the NIPUN Bharat theme song and GMS Wokha Town D head teacher Nzanmongi Ngullie proposed the vote of thanks at the programme attended by district education officials, community members, teachers and students of the school.


Meanwhile, on the same day, GPS Orchid at Orchid (Likya) Colony, Wokha town also organized the Magical Basket, where EBRC Wokha coordinator Sentsuthung Kithan inspected the TLMs and further encouraged the teachers to keep using them in their daily teaching-learning transactions.
