First randomization of EVMs, VVPATs conducted for 28-Koridang by-polls

DIMAPUR:

Office of the Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Mokokchung, carried out the first randomization of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trails (VVPATs) for the upcoming by-election to the 28-Koridang Assembly Constituency on March 19, 2026.
According to the press note issued by Ajit Kumar Verma, Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Mokokchung, the randomization was conducted through the EVM Management System (EMS) in the presence of representatives of national and state recognized political parties.
Following the randomization, lists of EVMs and VVPATs allocated constituency-wise were shared with all political parties at the district headquarters. These machines will now be handed over to the Returning Officers and Assistant Returning Officers concerned, and stored in the designated Assembly Strong Rooms under the watch of party representatives.
It was further stated that after the finalization of contesting candidates, the list of randomized EVMs and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trails will also be shared with them.
District Election Officer emphasized that the process was carried out in strict adherence to the guidelines laid down in the Manual on Electronic Voting Machines, available on the Election Commission of India website.
