First SIP launched at LMS, Wokha

DIMAPUR: In a significant milestone for educational advancement in Wokha district, the first-ever School Integrated Programme (SIP) was launched on May 22 at Libemo Memorial School (LMS), Wokha. The initiative marks a new beginning for science education and competitive examination preparation in the district.
The inaugural programme was chaired by Therali, with invocation by Loreni Ezung. Students, teachers, parents and education stakeholders attended the event.
Delivering the welcome address, LMS principal Surojit Mitra highlighted the importance of collaborative educational efforts and reiterated the school’s commitment to quality science education. He also led the felicitation of dignitaries and science freshers.
Keynote speaker Ajay Sethi, managing director of NITI Academy, Nagaland, stressed discipline, consistency and scientific temperament among students. He encouraged them to aspire for careers in medicine, engineering and other fields, while promoting STEM education in Nagaland, which currently stands at 14% compared to 40% nationally.
Special guest Chandrakant Bharti, principal of Government Higher Secondary School, urged students to remain determined and academically focused, while emphasizing the collective responsibility of institutions in shaping future generations.
A highlight of the event was the distribution of science and mathematics books along with Daily Practice Papers (DPPs) to students by LMS director Merilo Kikon. The programme also marked the restart of the science stream at LMS, with IIT alumni faculty guiding students in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology.
With only 20 science students enrolled in Class XI across Wokha district this year, the SIP is expected to strengthen the educational ecosystem and provide affordable opportunities for aspiring students within the state.
