First ever handwritten Bible in Sumi comprising 12 volumes, from Genesis to Revelation, was released at Lhomithi Ghami Baptist Akukuhou (LGBA) here on Sunday. It was released during the devotional hour by LGBA Sunday Devotional Hoho by Western Sümi Baptist Akukuhou Küqhakulu (WSBAK) executive secretary Rev Dr Phughoto Sema in the presence of the community residing at Lhomithi Colony. The handwritten Bible is an initiative of LGBA in sync with the yearly theme “Establishing home upon the words of God” (Psalms 127: 1-3). The initiative began in January this year and was completed in two phases in September. Releasing the Bible, Rev Phughoto read out a verse from Hebrew, pen in the handwritten Bible. Lauding the initiative of LGBA, he observed that among the 1,674 Baptist churches and six lakh population, it was the first church to take the initiative of coming out with a handwritten Bible.
He encouraged the congregation to not just read the word of God but also to follow His commandments. He said reading the word of God would help them come closer to God and remind them of His promises that would strengthen their faith and develop spirituality. He encouraged the gathering to “walk the talk” and rededicate their life and be blessed.
Delivering the keynote address, LGBA pastor Toluho gave a brief of the initiative. He thanked all the participants who took active part in completing the handwritten Bible project.
