The Football License Coaches of Kohima District (FLCoKD) expressed deep shock and sadness at the demise of Pelezotuo Mezhür Sekhose, widely known as Atuo Mezhür, on June 13.
A press release by FLCoKD president Vizovor Liezietsu stated that it holds late Atuo Mezhür in the highest regard as a towering figure in sports leadership who pioneered and trailblazed the growth of sports—particularly football—in Nagaland.
The release stated that as a sports administrator, Atuo Mezhür greatly inspired and motivated countless sports enthusiasts, contributing significantly to the progress and development of sports in the state, adding that his contributions to football, both at the national level and in Nagaland, remain unmatched and are etched in the history of Nagaland football.
Mezhür, as an educationist and social worker, he was deeply respected in Naga society, especially among the youth, for his impactful personality and manifold contributions that have touched many lives, the release added.
The FLCoKD extended its heartfelt condolences, solidarity, and prayers to the bereaved family during this time of grief, adding that with his passing, the Naga society has lost a gem—an irreplaceable void has been left behind.
