
Under Swachh Bharat mission, ministry of Urban Development, government of India, District Municipal Council (DMC) Dimapur has received 12 medium sized tipper trucks, two JCB, one excavator, one road roller and 250 dustbins which was launched Monday, at DMC office Dimapur by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dimapur, Kesonyu Yhome.
DC in his address lauded the DMC and its labourers, acknowledging their contribution in keeping the city clean.
He impressed upon the DMC for judicious usage of the machineries.
Yhome also appealed the public to inculcate civic sense, saying public participation and cooperation was crucial for maintaining a clean and hygienic environment.
In his message, DC underscored the need to create awareness on segregation of biodegradable and non-degradable waste.
DMC, administrator H. Atokhe Aye while welcoming the DC appreciated the cooperation and support he had rendered towards the council.
He was hopeful that with the arrival of the new machineries, the problems related to sanitation and drainage would be eased and better service would be delivered to the public.
He asked the workers under DMC to work hard and put extra effort.
DMC plan to send one vehicle each to two wards starting from the second week of next month and two dustbins would be installed in institutions and centrally located area in order to sort the problem of waste.
Aye informed that ward committee comprising GBs and chairmen under DMC meeting would be held on May 26.
On the occasion of World Environment Day, June 5, DMC would organize a programme at its office. To mark the occasion DMC would be distributing free dustbins to every household under DMC- under Swachh Bharat mission.
In this regard, all colony authorities have been reminded to submit the house-list of the colony on or before May 20.
Aye further appealed for public participation and cooperation in developing the city.
