Floral artistry workshop held at Nagaland University

A floral artistry workshop was organised by farmer’s cell, School of Agricultural Sciences, Nagaland University, Medziphema Campus in collaboration with the district administration, Medziphema at the Multi-Purpose Hall, SAS, Medziphema on October 31.
A press release by the PRO of Nagaland University, Peter Ki, stated that ADC of Medziphema P. James Swu who spoke at the workshop, expressed happiness about the floral artistry workshop as it was first of its kind in Medziphema
He highlighted key aspects of the workshops, and its benefits, while also encouraging the participants to take part with full zeal to learn and to apply in life skills. He hoped that the workshop would be a learning experience and opportunity to discover a new hobby, where it will enhance creativity, and added that working with flowers can be therapeutic and stress relieving.
Swu also emphasized the importance of flowers in human life, the benefits in boosting mental wellbeing, enhancing aesthetic appreciation, creativity and also in developing entrepreneurship.
In his speech, prof. Dipak Sinha, pro vice-chancellor, Medziphema Campus, NU encouraged the participants to actively attend the floral artistry workshop with dedication, adding that the workshop will enhance creativity to learn and develop new skills. Prof. Sinha also emphasized on the importance of flowers in life and the need to develop an entrepreneurial mind.
The resource persons of the workshop, Dr. Rokolhuu Keditsu, associate professor, department of horticulture, SAS, NU and Dr. Nini R. Kuotsu, assistant professor, department of vocational studies and skill development, Abdul Rahman, department of horticulture, SAS, NU, spoke on essential topics like symmetrical equilateral flower arrangement, scalene shape, resin floral art, center piece arrangement, Ikebana flower arrangement, and contemporary flower arrangement. There was demonstration of various flower arrangement styles and techniques too.
Earlier, the inaugural program was chaired by Dr. Mary N. Odyuo, associate professor, while the invocation was proposed by Dr. Sentimenla Jamir, assistant professor, and vote of thanks by Dr. Sabbithi Pavan, assistant professor. Altogether 84 participants, both offline and online, attended the floral artistry workshop.
