FNT is not about separation, but understanding and unity: Metsübo

Addressing current issues, Minister for Rural Development & SIRD, Government of Nagaland, Metsubo Jamir spoke on the Frontier Nagaland Territory (FNT), clarifying that it should not be viewed as a movement for separation. “FNT is not like Indian independence nor like the granting of Nagaland statehood. It is not about separation — it is about understanding and working together,” he stated.
He was speaking at the Tsang-Rii Mübü Thüpcheh celebration at Tsarü Village on Thursday at the Tsarü Village Community Hall, as the special guest. He urged the public to remain united, saying, “Whether FNT comes or not, we will remain together as Nagaland.”
Advisor for Information & Technology, Economics & Statistics, and Evaluation, Sethrongkyü Sangtam, attended as the Guest of Honour. In his address, Minister Metsübo Jamir emphasized the enduring relationship between Longsa and Chare villages, recalling the close ties built during his father N.I. Jamir’s time. “Coming here today to attend this pre-harvest festival is the outcome of a relationship built between my father’s generation and your fathers’ generation,” he said, describing the occasion as a celebration of longstanding bonds.
Jamir encouraged the community to uphold courage, gratitude, and unity, adding, “Let our love for each other remain strong, and let us never leave one another.”
The Minister also announced several development initiatives for Chare village such as establishment of a Panchayat Learning Centre for youth; Rs. 50 lakh piggery farming projects for womenfolk; Construction of approach roads in and around the village; and Possible commencement of road work from Meyilong to Chare, pending DPR finalization
Short speeches were delivered by guest of honour Sethrongkyü Sangtam, Head GB L. Nungshi, and EAC Zerutso Kesiezie. The welcome address was delivered by council chairman I. Mendang Sangtam.
The celebration featured cultural presentations by various groups and the significance of Tsang-Rii Mübü Yukhe was highlighted by Changse Head Barrick.
