FNT issue: Konyak CSOs summon NDPP prez

Konyak Civil Society Organization (CSOs) have issued a summon to the PDA chairman and NDPP president Chingwang Konyak against his “recent actions that have contravened the explicit directives set forth by the Konyak Union (KU) on 30th March 2024, directing all its citizens not to engage in commentary remarks on the ENPO FNT matter.”

The summon, which was widely circulated on social media platforms, was jointly signed by Konyak Union (KU) president Tingthok Konyak, Konyak Nyupuh Sheko Khong (KNSK) president Ponglem Konka and Konyak Students’ Union president T Noklem Konyak.

The CSOs pointed out that their attention was drawn to the “adverse remarks” made by Chingwang during the election rally held on April 5 at Wokha. They also said that Chingwang had on multiple occasions, made unfavorable comments regarding the Frontier Nagaland Territory (FNT) issue. They said that his “repeated disregard to the Eastern Nagaland (EN) community and the Konyaks in particular” was totally unacceptable.

“Your actions not only defy the authority of the Konyak CSO but also brought disgrace and humiliation upon the entire EN community, particularly the Konyak people whom you represent. Your conduct is unbecoming of a responsible citizen and a leader,” the CSOs stated.

Therefore, the Konyak CSOs have asked Chingwang Konyak to present himself at the Konyak Union office, Mon Headquarters within 48 hours upon receiving this notice. The CSOs also asked him to address the mentioned violations and explain his actions. “Failure to comply with this summon will leave the Konyak CSO with no option but to initiate stern disciplinary action against you,” the CSOs stated.
