FNTA MoA a historic step for inclusive development: Rio

DIMAPUR, FEB 5 (NPN)

Nagaland chief minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio on Thursday described the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between the Government of India, Government of Nagaland and the Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO) for formation of the Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority (FNTA) as a historic step towards equitable and inclusive development.
According to DIPR, addressing the programme in Delhi, Rio said the agreement reflected the state government’s commitment to reaching out to all regions and ensuring balanced development across Nagaland.
He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah for their support and statesmanship that led to the signing of the agreement. He also thanked the Union home secretary, state government officials led by the Nagaland chief secretary, and the ENPO leadership for their cooperation.
Rio said he believed the agreement would demonstrate mutual trust among all sections and help address the aspirations of the people of Eastern Nagaland, while also benefiting the state as a whole by taking development to the doorsteps of citizens.
Congratulating the people of Eastern Nagaland, Rio termed the MoA a significant milestone and said it was not only an achievement for the eastern region but a victory for the entire Naga society. He assured full cooperation and support in working towards progress and development for all sections of society, and expressed hope that the Centre would continue to assist Nagaland in its quest for all-round development.
