Foothill Road: KUD, YAPO appeal state govt to issue work order

Konyak Union Dimapur (KUD) has appealed chief minister Neiphiu Rio and the state government to issue work orders for the Foothill Road at the earliest, so that the extraordinary people’s project works could start in the working season without any delay.

With Rs 148.5 crore having been sanctioned, KUD president M Jeange Yanlem and general secretary Wanwang Konyak urged the state government to keep completion of the Foothill Road in utmost priority list, as it could also surely help in promoting the state’s revenue and even boost the local economy.

They asserted that the project was a long cherished dream of all Nagas, particularly for people living in Mon district as they faced untold inconveniences while passing through other states.

During times of ban and other crises in neighbouring state, the KUD leaders pointed out that the people of Mon always faced difficulty to travel out without proper direct road connectivity within the state. Hence, they stressed that it had become an urgent and critical need for the people to have the foothill road at the earliest.

YAPO: Yanmhon Area Public Organization (YAPO) has also expressed its support for the Nagaland Foothills Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC) in demanding the timely execution of the 2-lane Foothills Road construction.

In a statement, YAPO president Matthew Humtsoe and secretary Likao Khenchung urged the issuance of immediate work orders to the concerned contractors to expedite the project.

Highlighting its endorsement of the transparency mantra propagated by NFHRCC, YAPO emphasized the importance of maintaining the quality of work by the agencies and firms involved.

YAPO extended its gratitude to both NFHRCC and the state government for including the Yanmhon area in the first phase of the 2-lane Foothills Road construction. It assured its full cooperation for the project, underscoring its commitment to transparency and ensuring the timely completion of work without compromising quality.
