Amidst the ongoing war of words between the state government and Nagaland Foothills Road Co-ordination Committee (NFRCC), the Konyak Union (KU) has urged all responsible parties to reach a mutual understanding and bring an end to the impasse.
In a press release, KU president Tingthok Konyak and press & media secretary Nokzep P Konyak suggested resolving the matter without creating further confusion, allowing for a logical and just conclusion.
To uphold accountability and transparency, the KU urged the concerned contractors to come to an agreement with the Union, committing to strict adherence to the DPR. “All action plans, verification, and inspections can be conducted jointly by the KU, KU representatives of NFHRCC members and the department concerned,” the union said.
The apex Konyak organisation stated that foothills road has been a long-cherished dream of the people, adding that its realization was a moment to celebrate. However, KU said that instead of rejoicing, the ongoing disagreement over the contract agreement between the state government and the NFHRCC has become a matter of concern.
In this regard, the KU has urged its representatives within NFHRCC to place their trust in the wisdom and leadership of KU and reiterated that collective approach should put an end to the impasse within the Konyak jurisdiction and the contractors start the work immediately without any hindrance. Expressing concern over the situation, KU said it was making every effort to understand and resolve the complexities involved.
KU acknowledged and appreciated the sacrifices, dedication, and relentless efforts of NFHRCC, whose struggle, it said has “now borne fruit with the approval and sanctioning of this very important project.” KU at the same time extended gratitude to the state government for recognizing the importance of the Foothills Road and taking the initiative to implement it.
KU expressed its firm belief that the foothills road project should not be delayed or obstructed by any party. The union said it “fully understands and respects” the good intentions of the NFHRCC in ensuring quality road infrastructure for the people, as well as the role and responsibilities of the state government in executing the project.
However, the KU said it cannot afford to “let this impasse continue” without a just and logical resolution. The union affirmed its commitment to working collectively to ensure the successful implementation of the project within Konyak jurisdiction.
KU said it would actively supervise and oversee the execution of the project, ensuring strict compliance with the Detailed Project Report (DPR). Further, KU reaffirmed its commitment to working for the welfare of the people with honesty, transparency, and accountability. “It is our firm belief that with collective efforts and cooperation, this project will be successfully executed, ensuring lasting benefits for the people,” KU stated.
