Peren District GBs Association (PDGBA) has clarified that it was forced to call off its proposed peace rally in Peren on March 9 following a threat from an NSCN (I-M) functionary.
In a statement by its president Kainia Dilun, vice-president Hangdi, general secretary Hingtung, vice-president Irangdong, information secretary Seijalam and adviser Kiesenlak, the association explained that it was all set to organise the rally, however someone declaring himself as kilonser of NSCN (I-M) called up its president and asked him to stop the rally. After failing to convince him to hold the rally and urge the Centre for early Naga solution, the president was threatened with consequences, if the rally was carried out, it added. Explaining that it had had no other agenda other than expressing its desire on behalf of all Nagas for an early solution, PDGBA said if there was any opposition to such moves, it left the matter to the Nagas to decide.
