Foreigners must obtain PAP to visit Nagaland: CP

DIMAPUR, FEB 24 (NPN):

Commissioner of Police-cum-Foreigners Registration Officer (FRO) Dimapur has noted that despite repeated advisories and wide publicity, foreign nationals continued to enter Nagaland without the mandatory Protected Area Permit (PAP) in violation of existing regulations.
In a press release, CP-cum-FRO Dimapur, Aotula T Imchen, reiterated that the earlier relaxation in the protected area regime for Nagaland has been withdrawn by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) owing to growing security concerns in the state’s border areas.
Therefore, CP informed that all foreign nationals intending to visit Nagaland were now required to mandatorily obtain a PAP from the competent authorities before entry. The following authorities have been empowered to issue PAP: Ministry of Home Affairs; All Indian Missions abroad; Foreigners Regional Registration Officers (FRROs); Home Commissioner, Government of Nagaland, Kohima; Resident Commissioner, Government of Nagaland, New Delhi and Secretary (Tourism), Government of Nagaland, Kohima.
CP stated that citizens of Afghanistan, China, and Pakistan, as well as foreign nationals of these origins, required prior approval from the Ministry of Home Affairs before visiting Nagaland.
Citizens of Myanmar also require prior MHA approval for the grant of PAP to visit the state.
All foreign nationals visiting Nagaland must register themselves with the Foreigners Registration Officer (FRO) of the concerned state/district within 24 hours of arrival. To facilitate hassle-free processing and avoid delays, all PAP applications should be submitted online through the e-FRRO portal: http://indianfrro.gov.in/frro.
CP has directed the general public, civil society organisations, government departments, travel agents, tour operators, hotels, guest houses, homestays, paying guest accommodations, and all other entities facilitating the visit or stay of foreign nationals in Nagaland to strictly verify possession of a valid PAP before providing any services, travel arrangements, or accommodation.
CP has sought cooperation from all stakeholders to ensure full compliance with the PAP regime in the interest of security and regulatory adherence.
