DIMAPUR: Forest department, Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS)-India and Nagaland State Biodiversity Board (NSBB) jointly organised a two-day training on “Combating Wildlife Crime and Biodiversity Conservation” for forest and police personnel from March 4-5.
A press release from NSBB informed that the training covered topics on wildlife trafficking and its combating, important provisions of wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, biodiversity conservation, engagement of communities in management of natural resources, management of human –wild animal conflict, search and seizure in wildlife crimes, identification of wildlife species and their parts in illegal trade, etc.

Chairman, Satya Prakash Tripathi while ACP, Dimapur, K. Vekato Chishi was the special invitee.
During the training, continuity of such trainings in future, necessity of awareness on conservation of forest, wildlife and biodiversity at grassroots level and funding to communities for continuity of conservation works were also discussed at length.
Later, vote of thanks was proposed by wildlife warden, Wildlife Division, Dimapur, H. Tokaho Kinimi for the valedictory programme.
Altogether, 50 trainees from Forest and Police departments attended the training.
