Former Dimapur Town Committee (DTC) member and social activist, Lanu Longchar passed away in the wee hours of April 19. Several organizations have mourned the demise of Longchar.
SCD: Sumi Council Dimapur (SCD) has expressed shock on the sudden demise of Lanu Longchar, resident of Bank Colony and former member of the erstwhile DTC due to cardiac arrest. In a condolence message, chairman of SCD, Kuhoi Zhimo said late Longchar was a public leader of repute and represented the Railway Colony area in the DTC. His oratory skill was popular amongst the public of Dimapur, particularly non-Naga community for his fluency to speak Hindi. In his death, the people of Dimapur have lost a fatherly figure and pioneer and the void created by his departure will be difficult to fill, SCD said. The council further conveyed condolences to the family members and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
MBF: Manik Bhattacharjee Foundation (MBF), Dimapur has also expressed grief at the unexpected demise of Lanu Longchar. MBF organizer, Monoj Bhattacharjee described late Longchar as a man of versatile personality, renowned and dedicated socio-political worker. The foundation shared its sympathies with the bereaved family members at this time of sorrow and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
PVHSS: Management including teaching and non-teaching staff of Pranabananda Women’s College and Pranab Vidyapith Higher Secondary School, Dimapur expressed shock at the unexpected demise of Lanu Longchar.
In a condolence note, PVHSS said that late Longchar was closely associated with the organisation, and was a man of high composure and good nature. He was a dedicated social worker and was associated with many social organisations of Dimapur.
He was also a keen well-wisher of the organisation- Bharat Sevashram Sangha and therefore, the vacuum created in his demise will be difficult to fill, PVHSS said in a statement.
