Foundation stone laid for NEMCARE Sakus Institute and Hospital

Foundation stone for North East Medical Care and Research Centre (NEMCARE)- Sakus Institute and Hospital at Sakus Mission College (SMC) was laid by Advisor Labour, Employment & Skill Development and Excise Moatoshi Longkumer at Sakus Mission College (SMC) on Thursday.


Speaking at the foundation laying programme, Moatoshi expressed happiness to lay the foundation stone of the hospital as a health institution, which he said, went beyond the realm of business which exemplified hope, care, and progress within the community.


He underlined that the laying of the foundation stone, marked the commencement of a project that encompassed not just an institution, but the promise of healing, compassion, and the enhancement of countless lives.
Moatoshi remarked that laying of the foundation stone signified the establishment of principles that would guide medical professionals in upholding the highest standards of medical care and in investing in cutting edge technology and research.


“Today, we embark on a journey that will lead to the creation of a sanctuary where lives will be saved, human suffering alleviated, and health and well-being nurtured,” he said.
He asserted that the hospital would be a testament to the power of collaboration, a result of the collective efforts of philanthropists, medical professionals, architects, and countless others, who have united with a shared purpose “to improve the quality of life for those in need”.


Touching briefly on NEMCARE, Longkumer said the hospital, a division of the North East Medical Care and Research Centre Pvt Ltd, was established in 2001 by a group of physicians and businessmen from Guwahati with the aim to bring high quality healthcare to everyone, showcasing a dedicated commitment to the health and welfare of our community.


He expressed confidence that the hospital would become a symbol of hope for those ailing, standing as a beacon of light, a place where miracles happen, and where the dedication of the healthcare heroes shines brightest.
“May this foundation stone serve as a reminder of our solemn pledge to serve the community with the utmost care and compassion,” he concluded.


NEMCARE Pvt Ltd is a Guwahati-based super-specialty Hospital that aims at achieving innovation, providing top-notch affordable care to patients and leading in clinical advancement with forward-thinking research.
Meanwhile, guest of honour for the programme, chief medical officer (CMO) Dimapur, Dr Limatula Aier expressed the optimism to see the fruition of the institution. She maintained that the importance of healthcare was really shown during the pandemic, lamenting the deficiencies of healthcare facilities in the state, besides dwelling on how the health sector was stressed out during the pandemic.


She emphasised that quality was more important than quantity in the health sector.
Hoping that quality skills would be imparted to the healthcare workers through the institution, she commented that it was a much-needed intervention, considering the condition of the health sector. She assured coordination and assistance.


Delivering a short speech, NEMCARE Hospitals &Group of Institutions managing director Dr Hitesh Baruah expressed his happiness to be a part of an institution based in Dimapur, and assured to start the journey to help develop Nagaland in the health sector and education system.


Citing the shortage of paramedical students, faculty and manpower, he stressed developing unskilled sector to skilled sector, whilst sharing his firm believe in quality over quantity.
He pointed that the development of health sector would be carried out phase-wise by NEMCARE — at first, Skill Development Institute would deal with skilling manpower, secondly, diagnostic centre would be activated, and finally the hospital would become operational.


Meanwhile, asked by reporters on the status of healthcare sector in the state after the programme, Barua said there was a shortage of super-specialty doctors, facilities, infrastructure, etc.
He assured that the establishment of NEMCARE in Dimapur would pave the way to providing quality health service to the entire state.


Asked the reason for the move to set up health institution in Dimapur, he informed that as NEMCARE stood for North East Medical Care and Research Centre, the group intended to increase its services to people throughout the Northeast.


Earlier, the programme was chaired by SMC principalAsenla Yanger, and dedicatory prayer was offered by DABA pastor Rev I Wati. Highlights of the programme included cultural performance by students of ASSOCHAM and special number delivered by Imnasunep and Temsuchiba of SMC.
